Eyüp Sultan Mausoleum Carpet Project

Bespoke New Zealand Wool Carpets for a Busy Place of Worship

Eyüp Sultan Mausoleum — Istanbul, Turkey

For the carpets at the Eyüp Sultan Mausoleum, we considered both the spiritual atmosphere of the space and its heavy visitor traffic. Woven in New Zealand wool, the carpets were specified at a thickness of 12 mm to suit the conditions of use.

We approached material selection, appearance and everyday performance as parts of a single design decision.

Choosing the Right Quality for Heavy Visitor Traffic

In spaces such as mausoleums, which receive visitors throughout the day, the level of use is a key factor in carpet selection. Wool type, weave construction, surface characteristics and thickness need to be considered together.

For the Eyüp Sultan Mausoleum, we selected a 12 mm carpet with the heavy visitor traffic in mind, placing the way the space is used at the centre of the specification.

Woven in New Zealand Wool

We combined the selected New Zealand wool with Kalida’s 3-ply yarn construction and weaving expertise. Care at every stage, from yarn production to finishing, helped create a surface that brings out wool’s natural texture.

Materials and manufacturing methods were considered together to create a carpet that complements the mausoleum’s atmosphere.

Integrated Production, from Yarn to Finishing

We manufactured the carpets at our fully integrated facilities in Demirci, Manisa. Following yarn production, dyeing and weaving, we also completed shearing and finishing in-house.

Carrying out all production stages under one roof allowed us to monitor the specified quality from yarn to finished carpet.

For mosque, prayer room and mausoleum projects, we select materials, weave density and thickness according to the needs of the space. Our bespoke manufacturing and professional fitting services support you from carpet selection through to installation.
