Sultan

Carpet design

Sultan

Sultan develops from a small geometric centre into larger curling, leaf-like forms within a circular medallion. Outlines define the curves and interlocking linework. Angular interlacing near the centre gives way to broader curves towards the edge. Small spirals and mirrored ornament fill the circular field, with changes in motif size creating a layered composition that opens outwards.
