Yemen
Carpet design
Yemen arranges flowers and curling linework in successive layers around a small star-shaped centre. Contours define the flower forms and surrounding ornament. Flower forms of different sizes repeat along concentric rings, while interlocking angular and curved ornament continues towards the perimeter. Small scalloped projections define the outer edge, enclosing the densely drawn circular composition.
